Alyson Orr is an award-winning actor, singer and writer whose work spans theatre, television and music. She recently completed a season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, appearing in Grease, A Toast Fae The Lassies and Sunshine on Leith. Her performance as Jean in Sunshine on Leith earned her the prestigious Leon Sinden Award.

Alongside her theatre work, Alyson has appeared in television, film and national advertising campaigns, including the long-running Scottish dramas River City and High Road. She also appeared in the BAFTA award-winning film One Life Stand and has played leading roles in numerous commercials.

Alyson is the founding member of the acclaimed jazz vocal harmony group The Swingcats, who have toured internationally with performances in Dubai, Marrakech and Monte Carlo. They have collaborated with some of the UK’s leading big bands, including the BBC Big Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and have appeared on Friday Night Is Music Night and Big Band Special on BBC Radio 2.

In addition to performing, Alyson works as a producer, creating pantomimes, musicals and live shows featuring leading Scottish actors including Alex Norton, Jonathan Watson and Paul Riley.

As a writer, Alyson composed the score for the musical comedy The Wedding Planners. The world premiere of her new musical Witch Hunt will tour Scotland in October, and a revival of A Toast Fae The Lassies is scheduled to tour in January 2027.
